Sasssy Sisters

Style Inspiration

Once upon a time, in a land far away, lived three sisters who wanted to follow their hearts and add a little sass to the lives of people around them. In their journey they came across another three sisters who were already living their dream through Si.ta.ra. When Sasssy sisters met Si.ta.ra sisters, they created magic!

We bring you our first collaboration with Si.ta.ra. Si.ta.ra is a clothing label based out of Guwahati, Assam. It is owned by the Hawelia sisters- Shivani, Tanya and Rajvi, who design and hand make their clothes from high quality fabric sourced from the best in the country and abroad.

So the stage was set for the three sisters who loved to design clothes and the three sisters who loved to style them. It was a perfect match.

In Si.ta.ra, the fabrics are luxurious and have a beautiful flow. They are perfect for festivities all year long. From beautiful traditional lehenga’s to lighter trendier ones and from elaborate evening wear gowns to flowy day dresses. They have something for everyone and something for every occasion. The best part, they customize too!

We bring you the the Sasssy-Sitara looks-

Look 1

Picture 1
The Flamingo Lehenga

This beautiful lehenga is inspired from the vibrant colors of the flamingo bird. The skirt is soft and flowy and hand dyed to perfection. The blouse is made of a beautiful pastel and gold Banarasi silk that gives it a royal feel. The bright red dupatta completes the outfit.

The Unicorn Skirt

We tweaked this traditional look by pairing the beautiful skirt with a chic white crop top with net inserts. This makes it more versatile and suitable for various occasions. This is a way of using our traditional garments in our day-to-day life. This way we get to wear them more than once!

Look 3

Picture 3
The Choker Gown

This hot pink gown with gold foil print is fun and pretty. The umbrella cut, the choker neck and bell sleeves add delicate charm to the gown. It makes the person feel like a princess. Even though the gown looks elaborate, it is light and easy to carry off. It is perfect for a day to night look.

Look 4

The Pink Princess Gown

We tweaked the gown for a more elaborate and traditional look. We draped a matte gold dupatta like a half sari and added an embellished belt to cinch the waist and enhance the silhouette. Accessorize with heavy jewelry to make it perfect for more formal events and festivals. Look your traditional best!

Look 5

The Palazzo-Crop Top Set

Here in this look we have an olive green palazzo and crop top set with a playful long bottle green jacket. This look is fun and care free. Its ultra chic and trendy. You can wear it up by accessorizing with beautiful heavy traditional jewelry or play it cool with one statement piece.

Look 6

The Palazzari

We tweaked the look by draping a gorgeous off white dupatta with golden motifs over the palazzo-crop top set. Now it appears like an edgy sari. This outfit is ideal to make a bold yet elegant statement. Minimal accessories have been added to go with the mood of the outfit.

These, looks are perfect for our new age divas who want to look their best in traditional garments yet want that edgy look and easy to wear garments. These outfits are for events and occasions where you look fancy and on fleek yet your clothes don’t wear you out and you can actively be a part of everything and have a blast.

We loved working with Si.ta.ra. They were very warm and pleasant and made us feel at home. Their clothes were a perfect blend of stylish and comfortable. All their pieces are bright and trendy, and made with love to suit the needs of their clients.

Style Inspiration, Uncategorized

Once upon a time there were 3 sisters who were bored of the basics… so they decided to bring out the colors in their wardrobe and paint the town red! … and blue and yellow…!!!

This post is dedicated to all those who are bored of pairing pop colored clothes with basics. Go wild! Have fun with colors.

Color blocking is a trend we have been obsessing with since 2011. It looks uber cool and effortlessly chic. It is when we use two or more solid colors together in an outfit to create one striking look. The idea is to make each color stand out rather than blending in.

Most of the time we shy away from experimenting because we fear we might look tacky, loud or over the top. Thus, we bring out the neutrals to pair with all our pop color clothes.

Here we present a GO-TO-GUIDE to COLOR BLOCKING.

‘How to select colors for color blocking?’

The safest way to color block is to use colors in a harmonious color scheme. Let us take help from the Color Wheel.

color wheel
Color Wheel

The color wheel consists of the 12 mother colors. Fear not! Taking this as a guide, use the various tints, tones and shades of these colors from your wardrobe to create your own color blocking outfit.

  1. MONOCHROMATIC COLOR SCHEME– Using any tint, tone or shade of one color.

Ex.- Red (mother color), Tint-Pink and Shade- Crimson

>Tint– when you add White to the color

>Tone– when you add Grey to the color

>Shade– when you add Black to the color

Monochromatic Color Scheme

Here we used a Pink spaghetti top and Hot Pink pencil skirt which are both tints of red to create this girl next door look. For some added sass accessorize with a matching bow choker.

  1. ANALOGOUS COLOR SCHEME– colors that lie adjacent to each other on the color wheel. Use at least 2 and not more than 5 consecutive colors on the color wheel.

Ex.- Blue and Blue-Green or Blue-Violet

Analogous Color Scheme

Here we used a spaghetti strap top in shade of Blue and a flirty high low skirt in a tint of Blue-Green to create this breezy cool summer look.

  1. COMPLIMENTARY COLOR SCHEME – 2 colors exactly opposite on the wheel.

          Ex.– Red-Violet and Yellow-Green

Complimentary Color Scheme

Here we used a classic complimentary combination to create this fun look with a Green lace crop top and Red skort.

  1. TRIAD COLOR SCHEME– 3 colors equally spaced from each other on the wheel.

          Ex.– Red-Violet, Orange, Blue-Green

This is created using 3 colors, Blue, Red, Yellow that give the effortless yet edgy vibe to the look. Here we see a Red body suit paired with a Blue lace skirt and a Yellow scarf used as a belt completes the outfit.

  1. TETRAD COLOR SCHEME-using a combination of 4 colors on the wheel that are 2 sets of complements.

          Ex.– Orange, Green, Blue, Red

Tetrad Color Scheme

This is a look for the bold fashionistas among you. It is created with the help of 4 colors.

To make it a little subtle use the 3rd and 4th color in the accessory like shoes, bag, scarf, belt, statement jewelry or makeup.

  1. Split complimentary color scheme– using any color with the 2 colors on each side of its compliment.

          Ex.-Blue, Red-Orange, Green

Here are the looks we created for style inspiration with the help of split complimentary color scheme.

Once there lived three sisters. It was a beautiful summer day so they planned to go out, and were excited until panic struck. “What do we wear?”, screamed the three.

‘What do we wear?’ is the most ordinary dilemma in every girl’s life, which always creates a hindrance in their fun day out.

Hi, we’re delighted to share our first blog post with you. It’s about everyday looks for the summer and how to style the outfit to suit various occasions. We have selected three basic articles, a dress, a skirt, and a pair of shorts, and worked on three different looks for each.

This post is dedicated to all those who have a cupboard full of clothes yet nothing to wear!

You can never go wrong with a pastel colored floral dress on a summer day. It is a must have for your summer wardrobe.

look 1
Look 1: The Brunch

Here we styled a floral pastel yellow sundress with a delicate satin and beads choker and basic nude heels. This look is perfect for brunch.

The neckline, cut out back and the gathers on the waist add some extra feminine touch to the outfit.

The dress can be given a formal or a rather casual look by playing around a little. Here are 2 more looks using the same dress for some inspiration:

Look 2: Friday at Work

We styled the same dress with a jacket with formal heels and accessorized it with a shoulder bag for a semi formal look perfect for casual days at work.

Look 3: By the Lake

Here the dress is styled with a sun hat and flat sandals for a very casual look which is perfect for a mini getaway.

Be on trend with a chic striped skirt. Take your style quotient up a notch by adding a pair of matching pop colour shoes.

look 2
Look 1: Out for Coffee

Here we styled the bright red and white pleated striped skirt by pairing it with a white top with a crochet neckline and adding a pair of matching pop color kitten heels. A small black sling bag completes the look.

The pleats on the skirt make the overall look more streamlined. Stripes are a current trend that you should invest in.

The skirt can be styled to jazz up the look or to give it a sophisticated touch. Two more looks using the same skirt can be seen for some inspiration:

Look 2: The Casual Get-Together

We changed the first look a little by adding a lace shrug and a pair of white peep toe espadrilles. Completing it with a white hard case bag and pearl hairband to make the look more polished.

Look 3: Date Night

We styled the same skirt with a black bodysuit with delicate lace neckline and added a bow belt to it. To accessorize we used a black box sling bag. Finally add the black pumps before heading out for the night!

Beat the heat in a pair of trendy shorts. Experiment with its versatility.

look 6
Look 1: At the Mall

Here we styled the black denim shorts with a pastel colored floral crop top and a nude pink sleeveless jacket and black brogues. Perfect for a day at the mall.

A pair of trendy black denim shorts is the most versatile piece of clothing you can own. You can style it a million ways and still not run out of things to do with it. We’ve curated two such looks for inspiration:

We have given it a sporty spin by adding a polo tee-shirt and a pair of matching sneakers. Sass it up by adding a cap to the look.

Look 3: Girls Night Out

We have transformed it into club wear by pairing it with a sequins top and black heels. Complete the look by accessorizing it with a sling bag and a lace choker.
